I've struggled with this too. I usually soft-launch ideas and projects with friends and family because I know it's a safe space, but then I question how honest and objective their compliments are. Then I remind myself, they're supporting me, not a delusion. Sure there's no guarantee strangers will love your work the same way your mom does, but at the same time there's no guarantee they'll hate it.
