the open-plan office is THE WORST! When I look back at all of the extra mental work spent trying to tune out conversations around me, I want to cry. It was truly eye-opening those first few days working from home. I finished my usual tasks by noon just because I could fully concentrate on my own work. If I ever go back to an office, I need my own quiet space. I get how media loves the collaborative space of an open office, but space for deep work is just as important.
